How to combine PTD and YTD information on the same column

Possible Resolution:

Background information:

The Column Layout only offers one column detail option to control whether the column output is year to date (YTD) or Current Period (CUR) information.

The Row format offers additional controls on the report output which can be used to override the column detail at the row level. One of these controls is called a 'row modifier'.

To use a row modifier to set the output to YTD:

  1. Launch the FRx Designer and access the row format screen.
  2. Open the GL Account Links form from the 'Link to General Ledger' column for the row which needs to be modified.
  3. Click on the row modifier and then zoom on the account modifier options. Note there are several options for YTD information. Select the appropriate option and close the row modifier forms.

Note: There is a limitation in FRx prior to Service Pack 11 which only allows one row modifier. When additional row modifiers are added an error will occur during report generation. See resolution entitled "Object Collection: Couldn't Find Item Indicated by Text" displays when using account modifiers or book code modifiers"

Another way to override the column detail is to borrow column details from one column for use on another. This is done by creating Non-Print columns (NP) for formatting details and specifying the NP column in the row format.

To configure a current period column B to display YTD information for a group of rows:

  1. In the column layout screen, create an NP column (X) with the YTD option.
  2. On the row format screen, specify the NP column X for the rows which will output the YTD information.
  3. If multiple rows will be included in the YTD summation, enter a row with a format code (FMT) of TOT and specify the rows to be included. Each of these rows must have the NP column specified.
  4. Add a new row as a calculated output using FMT code = CAL. The formula is B=Xyyyy where yyyy is the row which contains the TOT row calculation.

The following illustration is an example of the report screen configured as described above. the NP column is specified as 'O', row 552 is the TOT calculation made up of the rows above it. Note these rows have the NP format code.

Under Working capital position is row 585. This is the calculated row (CAL) where column B is set to print the TOT row using the column detail of the NP column (B=O552).

The following illustrates the possible output from the configuration above. The upper portion shows a net income based on the current period specified as October. The lower section shows working capital in YTD figures.
