How to configure FRx security and FRx authentication
Possible Resolution:
The following information pertains to Sage MAS 500.
FRx Authentication
FRx authentication is defined by using the data source name specified on the System Specific tab in Company Information. To view the data source name:
- On the Company menu, click Information.
- Click the System Specific Information tab.
The following two types of authentication, which are configured from within the Data Source (DSN), determine how to log on to FRx:
- Windows NT authentication: FRx finds a match between the Windows network logon ID and the network user name created in the Sage MAS 500 SQL server. The user is logged on to FRx immediately if the authentication is valid.
- SQL Server authentication: A SQL server logon ID is required. Enter the SQL Server logon ID in the User name and Password fields.
FRx Security with FRx Authentication:
Enable FRx security for additional security. To enable FRx security:
- On the Admin menu, click Organization.
- Click FRx Security. Click one of the following:
- Require User Login -- Select this option to create FRx user IDs:
- On the Admin menu, click Users.
- Enter the user information.
Note: The FRx User ID may be the same as the Sage MAS 500 User ID, but this is not mandatory. - User Network ID -- If this option is selected, FRx uses the Windows network logon information.
To define additional security options:
- On the Admin menu, point to Security.
- Click one of the following:
- Secure Companies
- Secure Catalogs
- Secure Rows
- Secure Columns
- Secure Trees
FRx security combined with FRx authentication results in the following log on requirements:
- Windows NT authentication with Require User Login: A User Logon dialog box prompts for the user ID defined in FRx.
- Windows NT authentication with Network ID: No logon information is required. The user is automatically logged on to FRx.
- SQL Server authentication with Require User Login: A User Logon dialog box prompts for the user's Sage MAS 500 user information and SQL Server logon information.
- SQL Server authentication with Network ID: A User Logon dialog box prompts for the user's SQL Server logon information.
