Entry Type: Informational

Product: FRx

Application: FRx

Version Reported: 6.0

Subject:

The following error occurs when compacting the FRx System database:

"Database Repairing or Compacting Failed. This is probably caused by other users having the database open. Check all connections to the database including those from Designer, Report Launcher and Queue Monitor."  The message occurs when attempting to compact the FRx System database, despite the fact that all users have closed FRx.

Note: This process compacts the FRLSPL32.MDB file which only affects the FRx demo data. No data in the live database is affected.

Possible Resolution:

  1. Close FRx.
  2. Launch FRx Designer.
  3. Set the FW demo company as default.
  4. Compact the FRx System database.

Note: FRx must be closed first in order to finish compacting the file. If FRx is not closed, the following displays in the status bar and the process does not complete: "Compacting Database FRx System..."

If this occurs, perform the following:

  1. Click the 'Close' ( X ) button to close FRx.
  2. From Windows Explorer, browse to the ..\FRx\SysData folder. If a DB.TMP file exists, delete it.
  3. Launch FRx, and set the FW company as default.
  4. Compact the FRx System database.
