Possible Resolution:
FRx Financial Reporter using different methods, locally for each individual user (fat client), or on a network directory and then share it among multiple users (thin client). In most cases, a thin client environment is recommended.
Caution: Do not run any FRx Financial Reporter applications while installing FRx Financial Reporter.
A fat client installation is typically used with a single-user license or to minimize dependency on the network. The networked, thin client installation is the most common configuration in a multi-user environment because it minimizes space used on the workstations and makes maintenance and upgrades easier to perform.
The FRx compact disc contains installation instructions for FRx Designer, FRx Report Server, FRx Web, FRx Report Launcher, FRx DrillDown Viewer, and FRx Web Administrator
Before installing FRx Financial Reporter, please review the following installation options:
FRx 6.5 Installation Overview:
Local Client Installation
In a local client installation, FRx Financial Reporter is installed as a fat client on each workstation with the most common components?the FRx Report Designer, the FRx DrillDown Viewer and the FRx Report Launcher.
In this installation configuration, there is the choice to store and maintain the SysData directory ? where FRx Financial Reporter company information, report specifications, and supporting files are located ? either on each user?s workstation or on a shared network computer. It is recommend that the SysData directory is on a shared network computer to be share reports and companies to multiple users.
Note: With a fat client installation and the SysData directory is not on a shared network computer, the Report Launcher cannot be used.
Network Client Installation
Use a network client installation to set up each workstation as a thin client and install only the minimum required components. Prior to the installation on a workstation, the FRx Financial Reporter client applications must already be installed on a file server.
All Components Installation
In an all components installation, choose which FRx Financial Reporter components to install. Select one or more of the options listed below.
- Report Designer
Select this option to install the Report Designer, the application to create, maintain, and generate reports. When installing the Report Designer, the DrillDown Viewer and Report Launcher are automatically installed. Use the DrillDown Viewer to view FRx Financial Reporter reports and drill down to transaction-level detail.
- DrillDown Viewer
Select this option to install the DrillDown Viewer, the application to view FRx Financial Reporter reports and drill down to transaction-level detail. If there is a previous installation of the Report Designer on a workstation, the DrillDown Viewer does not need to be install separately. If the DrillDown Viewer is only installed, it is recommend to install it on a local drive.
- Report Launcher
Select this option to install the Report Launcher, the application to schedule and generate FRx Financial Reporter reports created in the Report Designer. The Report Launcher is automatically installed as part of a fat or thin client configuration. For best results, it is recommended to install the Report Launcher on a local drive.
- Client Deployment
Select this option along with the FRx Report Designer for installation on a shared network computer. This option installs a pre-configured Client Deployment program to set up multiple workstations as thin clients to the Report Designer. After the Client Deployment program is ran, browse to an executable file from a workstation and run the thin client installation to install with out the CD.
