Solution:

I am receiving the message “The product update does not need to be applied” when installing a Service Release for Sage Peachtree. How can I correct this issue?

This message occurs after you have had a partial or failed install of the Service Release. When attempting to reinstall the Service Release a second time, you will receive the error that “the product update does not need to be applied.” This is caused by certain registry keys being partially updated. In order to apply the updates, you will need to reset the registry back to its status prior to attempting installation of the Service Release.

  1. Close Sage Peachtree.
  2. Press the Windows logo and R keys on your keyboard to open the Run window, or you may click the Start menu, and select Run.
  3. Type regedit in the Open box and click OK.
  4. In the registry editor, browse to the following registry key:

    For Sage Peachtree versions 2011 and later

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Peachtree\Applications\Version (Version Number)

    For Peachtree versions 2010 and earlier

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Peachtree\Applications\(Short Name + Version Number)

  5. On the right pane of the window, right-click the Version string and select Modify.
  6. In the Value Data field, change the last digit in the value to 0. Press OK.
  7. Select File, Exit to close the Registry Editor window.
  8. Install the latest Sage Peachtree Service Release. Download the latest Service Release by going to http://www.peachtree.com/supportTraining/updatesUpgrades/downloadUpdates/
  9. Once the update is completed, open Sage Peachtree.
