Usage Type Codes and Explanations

All Sage products and services within a sales transaction are assigned a specific type of usage. This usage type is based on what the customer (end user) currently owns at the time the new order is entered. Usage type is used by the system for several tasks including calculation of the pricing, determination of the contract start and end dates and entitlement. Purchases are classified using the following codes:

Renew This indicates the contract is a renewal of an existing similar contract the customer owns.
Late Fee This is also called Reactivation Fee and is the charge for renewing a lapsed contract. The calculation may vary by product line.
New
This indicates the customer never owned the Sage product or contract that they have purchased on this order.
Add on ModuleThis usage type indicates the customer purchased a new module for a product line they currently own.
Add on UserThis indicates an additional "seat" or "license" has been purchased for an existing product or service the customer currently owns.
SupAdd This reflects the mandatory M&S (maintenance and support) fee associated with the purchase of a product or module.
Mid Year UpgradeThis indicates a purchase was an upgrade to an existing contract and was done before the original contract expired.
No UsageThis purchase cannot be identified as having a specific usage type.
