Subject:

Named columns that are added to the Name Manager in Excel are not retained after creating and linking the template for SMI Reports

Steps to Duplicate:

In [SOA] company:

  1. Expand MAS Intelligence, Tools, Report Manager.
  2. Expand the Designer folder. Copy the Financial Reports Designer Report and paste into a new folder.
  3. Run the Report. Enter Report Parameters: Financial Year = 2008, Budget Set = 2(SOA Current Budget).
  4. In Excel, unhide Sheet1.
  5. Insert a new Column to the left of the 'PrimaryGrouping' column.
  6. Name the Column using Name Manager on the Formulas Ribbon.
  7. Create and Link the template.
  8. Rerun the Report using the same Report Parameters.
  9. In Excel, unhide Sheet1.
  10. On Sheet1, Click on Formulas, Name Manager.

Note: The New Name did not save when linking back to the template. The new column is not listed in the Name Manager.

Expected Behavior:

When creating and linking the template and changes that were made for the Name Manager should be retained.

Possible Workaround:

This is working as designed.

Sheet1 is the output sheet for all reports and cannot be used as part of the report customization (this is the reason it is a hidden sheet).

Any changes made to Sheet1 will automatically be overwritten as this is the raw data output from the database and the columns and rows in here will change dynamically depending on the columns and data selected (or retrieved) in the report. Any changes made to any other sheets will be retained after creating and linking.
