Subject:

Unable to change user's License Type in Sage MAS Intelligence.

Steps to Duplicate:

In [SOA] company:

  1. Expand MAS Intelligence, Maintenance, License Manager.
  2. Verify that the admin user is already listed with a License Type of Report Manager.
  3. 'Delete' the existing record.
  4. Click 'Add'. Select Admin from the 'User' drop down. Select Report Viewer for the 'License Type'. Click 'Ok'.
  5. Select File,Close.
  6. Log Out of MAS 500 and log back in.
  7. Expand MAS Intelligence, Maintenance, License Manager. Note: The License Type = Report Viewer and this is correct. Select File, Close.
  8. Expand the Tools folder and double-click Report Manager. Note: Report Manager opens without any error and a security trigger does not alert the user. Close the task.
  9. Expand the Maintenance folder and double-click License Manager. Note: The License Type has updated itself to say "Report Manager".

Expected Behavior:

The License Manager should not change to a higher license if task is opened.

Possible Workaround:

This is working by design.

When running the Report Manager module, if there are available Report Manager licenses, the User will be automatically assigned one. This is also the case when the user has a lesser license type (for example a Report Viewer license), when running the Report Manager (if there are available Report Manager licenses) the user will automatically be assigned a Report Manager license and the Report Viewer license will be released.

One proposed work around to the scenario is to make sure that all of the available Report Manager licenses are assigned up front and the automatic assignment will no longer occur.
