Subject:
"Display Only" permission level ignored when running Sage MAS Intelligence tasks
Steps to Duplicate:
In [SOA] company:
- Expand System Manager, Maintenance, Maintain Security Groups.
- Select SysAdmin as the 'Security Group'.
- Select MI for the 'Module ID'.
- Locate the Task Description "Report Manager". Select "Display Only" for the 'Permission'.
- Save and Finish. Log out of MAS 500 and log back in.
- Expand MAS Intelligence, Tools, Report Manager.
- Copy an existing Report and Paste in a new folder.
- Highlight the Copied Report and on the 'Properties' tab. Click on 'Show Advanced'.
- Uncheck or Check any of the options and click 'Apply'. Note the user is allowed to change the values and click buttons in the task.
Note: This issue also exists with all of the tasks for the MI Module.
Expected Behavior:
In Security Manager, the Display Only security allows members of that security group to only view the data. If this option is selected, the users should not be allowed to change the values at the fields or click buttons in the task.
Possible Workaround:
This is working by design.
The settings made in the MAS 500 Security Groups will have no affect on the actual SMI Modules. There are some security settings that can be controlled by the SMI Report Manager:
In Report Manager, click on the 'Show Advanced' option to see the additional Security Options.
- Locking/Unlocking a Report - Right-click the report to access this security option. Report Locked - An option box to lock all Report Manager property fields of the selected report. Once it and the Apply button is selected, the user will be prompted to enter a case sensitive unlock password (entered twice to confirm). All tabs of the report (Properties, Filters, Columns etc.) will then be unavailable and no changes are further allowed. When changes need to made, the following need to be done:
- " In the Report Manager, right click on the relevant report and click Unlock
- " Enter the correct password and click OK.
- " All property tabs and their fields will now be available again
- Protect The Output Book - An Option Box to ensure that the exported Microsoft Excel file is read-only and not editable by unauthorized persons.
