Entry Type: Informational
Product: Sage MAS 500 ERP
Application: SMI
Version Reported: 7.30.3
Subject:
BI Tools tab is missing in Excel 2007 after SMI is installed for Sage MAS 500.
Possible Resolution:
This issue may occur after a Windows Update. To correct follow the Resolutions below.
There is an environmental variable in Windows that can be set that will cause Excel to show a message box detailing any error that occur during the load of VSTO Add-Ins (like the Report Designer). To set this follow these steps:
- Go to Computer > Right-Click > Properties.
- Go to the Advanced tab and click Environment Variables.
- If the VSTO_SUPPRESSDISPLAYALERTS variable does not already exist the, click on 'New' and add a System Variable. If already exists, skip to step 5.
- Variable Name: "VSTO_SUPPRESSDISPLAYALERTS". Set the Variable Value to: "0".
- Open Microsoft Excel. Open the Excel Options (File, Options).
- Select the 'Add-Ins' list item.
- Select the 'COM Add-ins' from the Manage drop down list.
- Click the 'Go' Button.
- In the COM Add-Inns window, make sure BI Generator and PLDRILL.Connect are both checked off. Click OK.
- Close Excel and reopen. The BI Tools and Add-Ins tabs should appear.
- Note: The BI Tools Tab will only display when launching the Report Designer Reports. It does not display with every Sage MAS Intelligence Report.
If this does not resolve the issue and the BI Tools tabs are still missing, most likely the SMI installation was not done correctly or corruption occurred. To resolve, uninstall and reinstall the SMI client.
