Subject:

"An unexpected error occurred: The layout [XXXXX] requires some column(s) that are missing on the source sheet. The column(s) are : - Would you like to view the error details?" error occurs when generating Report Designer layout.

Steps to Duplicate:

In [SOA] company:

  1. Expand MAS Intelligence, Tools, Report Manager.
  2. Expand the Designer Folder. Copy Financial Reports Designer 2-3 (MAS 500) and Paste into new Folder.
  3. Run the Copy of Financial Reports Designer 2-3 Report.
  4. Enter the Report Parameters: Financial Year = 2008. Budget Set = 2. Click 'OK'.
  5. In Excel, click on the 'BI Tools' Tab.
  6. Click the 'Launch' icon.
  7. Select 'New Layout'.
  8. Enter any Layout Name and click 'Next'.
  9. Click on the 'Text Columns' tab. Select 'GLAccountNo'.
  10. Click on the 'Columns' tab. Select 'Actual YTD'.
  11. Click on the 'Rows' tab. To set the Primary Grouping Level, click on the Group By...'Select' button. Select 'PrimaryGrouping'.
  12. Select 'COST OF GOODS SOLD' for the Row.
  13. Click 'Generate Layout'.

Note Error Returns: "An unexpected error occurred: The layout [XXXXX] requires some column(s) that are missing on the source sheet. The column(s) are : - Would you like to view the error details?"

Expected Behavior:

Error should not appear.

Possible Workaround:

  1. In Excel, click on 'BI Tools'. Click the 'Quick Edit' and the 'Balance Sheet'.
  2. Clear each section and design as needed.
  3. Generate Layout.

Issue only occurs when creating a New Layout but is avoidable by using a Layout that already exists.
