How to create a row format in FRx
Possible Resolution:
- Open File / New / Row.
- Complete the columns listed below as necessary:
- Column A - Row Code
- Use numbers or descriptive labels to identify each row.
- Descriptive labels may be up to 16 alphanumeric characters, but must start with an alpha character.
- Special characters, other than the underscore ( _ ) character, cannot be included in row codes.
- Row codes are referenced when pulling amounts from a specific row into calculations.
- Row codes are optional. Only those rows referenced by other rows must be identified.
- Numeric row codes can be renumbered using the Renumber Rows option on the Edit menu.
- Column B - Description
- Contains the description of each row exactly as it appears on the report.
- The description can be up to 60 characters.
- The actual number of characters printed on the report is determined by the width of the column indicated in the Column Layout.
- Column C - Format Code
- The format code determines the appearance of the row.
- Every row is assumed by FRx to be a general ledger detail row unless a code is present in this column.
- For more information, see What are the Row Format Codes in FRx.
- Column D - Related Rows/Unit
- This column can be used to:
- Link a description or underline row to an amount row so that the title prints only when the amount does.
- Restrict the row to a specific reporting unit.
- Define the rows to be sorted when used with SORT or ASORT format codes.
- Define rows included in a TOT row or the formula for a CAL row.
- Use the 'Summation' button to select a consecutive or nonconsecutive number of rows, and have FRx automatically insert a range of rows in a TOT or CAL row.
- Column E - Norm Bal
- Use this column to remove the credit characteristics from amounts.
- Enter a C for rows that are linked to general ledger accounts that have a normal credit balance. This reverses the sign on the amounts for this row.
- Column F - Print Ctrl
- This column controls the printing format of the row.
- Select more than one print control code by separating the codes with a comma.
- Column G - Column
- This column is for calculations that apply to only one column.
- If the Row Format column contains a letter that corresponds to a column in the Column Layout (for example, A,B,C), it prints only the value for this row in that column.
- Column H - Link to General Ledger
- This column identifies the sources for the amounts in the row.
- It is used to link rows to the general ledger accounts.
- Use this column to link rows to other sources such as other row formats, spreadsheets, or other fiscal years' data.
- General ledger account numbers may be entered manually, or you can indicate a group or range of accounts in the 'GL Account Links' dialog by selecting the down-arrow on this column.
- Normally, the natural account segment is used when linking a row to a general ledger account. However, an exact account number can also be entered.
- When indicating a range of accounts for a single row, the accounts are summarized on the report when selecting Financial as the detail level.
- Use a wildcard character (?) to tell FRx to assume a match in specific positions of the account number. For example, 6??? indicates to use all accounts that begin with a '6'.
