Entry Type: Informational

Product: FRx

Application: n/a

Version Reported: All

Subject:
A Row, Column, or Tree was deleted or overwritten in FRx and needs to be restored.

Possible Resolution:

  1. Go to Company / Specification Sets and note the location of the Specification Set from which the building block was deleted.  For example: \\frxserver\frx\sysdata\frxrpts.f32
  2. Have everyone log out of FRx.
  3. If a lot of work has been done (modifying existing records or creating new reports) since the last backup, continue with Step 4 to keep that work.  If a lot of work has not been done, it is possible to restore the file found in Step 1.                                                                                                   NOTE:  Choosing to restore the file from backup without continuing to Step 4 will eliminate any changes or new reports created since that backup was done.  It may be necessary to recreate some changes and / or reports.
  4. Using Windows Explorer, rename the specification set that was found in Step 1.  For example, rename it to frxrptsnew.f32.
  5. Restore the frxrpts.f32 file from the last backup.
  6. Relaunch FRx.
  7. Go to Company / Specification Sets and click on Export.
  8. Highlight the deleted building block.  There are tabs for Catalogs, Rows, Columns, and Trees.
  9. Click on Export.
  10. Accept the default Save In path.  It is possible to change the file name.
  11. Click on Save.
  12. Get everyone out of FRx.
  13. Delete the frxrpts.f32 file using Windows Explorer.  The path is the same as what was found in Step 1 above.
  14. For example, rename the frxrptsnew.f32 to frxrpts.32.
  15. Relaunch FRx.
  16. Go to Company / Specification Sets and click on Import.
  17. Select the file you saved in Step 9.
  18. Click on Open.
