How to move FRx to a new location.

Possible Resolutions:

Fat Client Setup:
In a fat client environment, FRx does not need to be reinstalled on client workstations.

1. Have all users close all FRx applications.
2. Create the new SysData directory in its new location. Be sure to leave the existing SysData directory intact.
3. Copy all files from the existing SysData directory to the new SysData directory.
4. Launch FRx Designer on one computer.
5. From within Designer, select Admin / Organization.
6. Click the 'SysData' button.
7. Type or select the new SysData path in the 'New Directory' dialog box.
8. Select the 'Update Current User Only' radio button, and click 'OK'. A message displays stating that FRx will exit after the change is made; click 'OK'.
• The 'Update Current User Only' option changes the SysData directory for only the current user. Select this option to change the directory for each user manually. You may wish to do this if you want to remove the existing SysData directory immediately after completing these steps.
9. Repeat steps 4-8 for all remaining workstations.
10. Launch FRx Designer again.
11. If the Import/Export paths for companies do not need to be changed, skip to step 13. Otherwise, select Company / Information. Click the far-left arrow button to move to the first company.
12. Type or select the new Import/Export path, and click 'Save'.
13. Repeat step 11 for all remaining companies, and click 'Close' to close the Company Information window.
14. Select Company / Specification Sets. Click the far-left arrow button to move to the first specification set.
15. Type or select the new location in the 'Location' dialog box. Be sure to leave the file name intact.
16. Click 'Save'. A message may appear stating that the spec set exists in the new location, and asking if you wish to overwrite. Click 'No'.
17. Repeat steps 14 and 15 for each remaining specification set.

Thin Client Setup:

1. Have all users close FRx.
2. Install FRx to the new network location. Apply the latest service pack immediately after installation.
3. Using Windows Explorer, browse to the new SysData directory.
4. Move all files from the new SysData directory into a backup directory.
5. Copy all files from the old SysData directory into the new SysData directory. Leave the old FRx install and SysData directory intact.
6. From one workstation, browse to the new FRx directory. Register all DLLs found in the FRx directory.  Download the batch file to register all the DLL files.
   
   Note: FRx 6.0 service packs released in April 2002 and later, as well as all FRx 6.5 installations, install a program called FRxReg.exe in the FRx directory. Double-clicking this program registers all DLL files without requiring manual registration of each file.
   
7. Launch FRx Designer on the workstation.
8. If the Import/Export paths for companies do not need to be changed, skip to step 11. Otherwise, select Company / Information. Click the far-left arrow button to move to the first company.
9. Type or select the new Import/Export path, and  click 'Save'.
10. Repeat step 9 for all remaining companies, and  click 'Close' to close the Company Information window.
11. Select Company / Specification Sets. Click the far-left arrow button to move to the first specification set.
12. Type or select the new location in the 'Location' box; Be sure to leave the file name intact.
13. Click 'Save'. A message may appear stating that the spec set exists in the new location, and asking if you wish to overwrite - click 'No'.
14. Repeat steps 12 and 13 for each remaining specification set.
15. Repeat step 6 for each remaining workstation.
